The Internet Explorer blog tips that, besides using the handy status bar control in the bottom right corner, you can zoom in IE7 with just the keyboard.

Using CTRL and the +/- keys, you can speed very quickly through the the zoom levels, with a lot of precision. Pressing CTRL-0 or CTRL-* will reset the zoom back to 100%.

As a commenter points out, if a page has images in a table (and how many don't?) you can see the seams at any zoom over 150%. IE7's zoom uses a bi-cubic interpolation algorithm, which, while being a bit blurry, should produce more readable results than IE6's nearest neighbor interpolation. If you have an image that is critical, on a website that is likely to be used with zoom, and it needs the old zoom style, you can specify it by setting an interpolation property.
